Personality Change can occur as organic changes in the brain progress. Very often, family members will become upset when their ageing loved one strikes out at them verbally or physically, or in ways which are completely foreign to their former personalities. Anger, lethargy, listlessness, susceptibility and vulnerability are some commonly seen personality changes. Physical inactivity frequently occurs when an ageing person becomes apathetic, may have chronic illness and/or pain, or might have a form of dementia or depression. A medical evaluation should be completed with recommendations on how to increase activity levels. After this is completed, caregivers should work within appropriate parameters on motivating the person to slowly increase activity with relevant positive reinforcement. | Ageing | Chronic Pain | Eating Disorders | Depression | Senility is a term which is not used as often today as in the past. It refers to a person with reduced cognitive functioning associated with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease. | Ageing| Dementia | Memory Loss | |
