Raising a child is one of the most challenging responsibilities we can face, especially given the fact that each child does not come with a his or her “owner’s manual”. There are many disorders of childhood both medical as well as emotional. I feel that whatever difficulties a child may undergo, the parent is usually right there with the child, experiencing the same problems, but with an adult perspective. This can sometimes result in an incompatible understanding of what the child is thinking and feeling. I usually recommend a thorough medical evaluation before embarking an any psychological treatment for behavior disorders. I always work with the child and parent/s in treatment in order to encourage and maintain an appropriate understanding, communication and follow-up for problematic behaviors. Behavior Problems |
