Divorce:

Divorce is the second most difficult stressor people can experience. The frequent accompanying feelings of anxiety and depression can be exacerbated by unhealthy habits like increases in alcohol and food intake, sleep difficulties, and prescription medications. This is a time to take an inventory of who we are and apply what we learn to create an emotionally healthier lifestyle for ourselves.

Empty Nest:

Empty Nest situations bring about mixed feelings that although we are happy our children are finally out of the house, we miss the activity and feelings of dependency we had when our children were younger. Difficulties arise when other life changes occur simultaneously, like menopause, career changes and ageing parents. We can learn how to adapt to this new transition in our lives by letting go of the familiar past and planning for a different type of relationship with our children.
