Illness can happen to anyone at any time. Adjusting to illness whether to ourselves or a loved one requires a complete re-evaluation about what is important to us. For many of us, it is a test of Faith and spirituality. Accompanying anxiety and depression are frequent and can exacerbate the illness, be it physical or mental. | Depression | Chronic Pain | Interpersonal Relationships include everything from significant others to family members, co-workers, neighbors, and strangers with whom we communicate. Our interactions can vary depending on where we may be in our lifespan, our previous life experiences and the present state of our mental health. In my clinical experience I have found that just as our physical health can change over time, ebbing and flowing, so can our mental health. Life is a series of cycles and transitions which impact our capabilities to exchange information and the emotions around us. Many times we may be so immersed in the challenges life confers upon us that we are unaware of the difficulties those around us may be experiencing. Communication problems are the fundamental reason interpersonal relationships fail. By improving verbal and non-verbal communications, we can increase the effectiveness of our personal and business interactions. The relationship between what we think, feel and do is the basis for treating interpersonal relationship difficulties. | Life Transitions | |
