Marriage:

Marriage is a joyous event which brings a myriad of adjustments during its first year. Bringing two lives together as a unit while maintaining individuality can frequently lead to communication problems, which can lead to anxiety and depression. If other changes are present, additive stressors can overwhelm the couple creating a seemingly impossible resolution to the problems. When only one of the individuals in the marriage recognizes the difficulties or wants to resolve the problems, the situation becomes even worse. After all, each person in the marriage is only one half of the equation, and both halves are needed to create the solution. For that reason, identifying the barriers to communication is the first step in improving the relationship and working toward common goals.
