Accidental Trauma:

Accidental Trauma can lead to symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/ or a depressive disorder as a result of a work-related injury, motor vehicle accident, personal injury or medical trauma. These symptoms are usually temporary and respond well to treatment if the trauma is the primary diagnosis.

Acute Illness Issues:

Acute Illness Issues arise when there is not only the physical pain and suffering accompanying the illness but also the psychosocial problems like a disruption in a person’s income, business and family, but also the many high costs associated with the illness, whether a person has health insurance or not. Symptoms include anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances and other personal turmoil. Many times there are adjustments which must be made to a person’s lifestyle which are difficult to achieve until a sense of normality resumes in the person’s life.

Chronic Pain & Chronic Illness:

Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness Issues leave a person with difficult problems to cope with that can be associated with pain killers, frequent medical visits to hospitals or clinics, loss of income, lifestyle, intimacy, and other important aspects of life. Learning how to live with chronic pain or illness is one of the most difficult challenges in life as well as being one of the most depressing. I have found that coordinating psychological care with a patient’s medical provider is one of the most helpful ways to reduce the fearfulness and depression which inevitably accompanies these conditions.
