Self Injury is a behavior in which an individual causes deliberate self-harm in the form of cutting, mutilating, burning or other harmful actions to himself or herself. It can also take the form of purging. People who engage in these dangerous behaviors say that they “take away” some of their psychic hurt (depression, anxiety) by causing physical pain and damage to themselves. Some individuals say that they can’t feel the physical pain from their self-injurious behaviors but it still makes them feel better. People who injure themselves deliberately need help right away and should not be ashamed to ask for it. They need someone who is understanding about their feelings, who will not pass judgment on them and who will accept them for who they are. | Personality Disorders | Depression | Purging | Anorexia | Bulimia | Suicide is the ultimate statement a person can make about their unhappiness with life. It has been said many times, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. People who are suicidal should seek medical or psychiatric help immediately. Call 911 or go to your nearest hospital for help and someone to talk to. | Depression | |
