How do I know if this type of therapy will work for me?

I am taking antidepressants prescribed by my primary care provider.
Should I tell him I am in telephone/online therapy?

I have tried therapy before and it did not help me. How do I know it would help now?

What would work better for me, telephone or online therapy?

Q:How do I know if this type of therapy will work for me?
A: This question can be answered in the free 5 minute consultation available to you. Based on the severity of your problem and if there are extenuating circumstances, this type of therapy may not offer you a solution to your problems. I will be able to offer you alternatives rather than starting sessions if I do not feel that telephone or online therapy would help you. back to top

Q: I am taking antidepressants prescribed by my primary care provider. Should I tell him I am in telephone/online therapy?
A: By all means, Yes. I strongly encourage my patients to include their medical provider in their psychiatric treatment. I typically work with the medical provider to offer feedback about progress or other changes if you would like. Of course, in order for me to do this, I would need a signed consent form for me to communicate with your provider. back to top

Q: I have tried therapy before and it did not help me. How do I know it would help now?
A: This is a question we can discuss during the free 5 minute evaluation. Many times people aren’t ready to seriously work on important personal issues and they have to “get ready” to try to change several times. There is a proven theory about Change and the several stages of Change people move through before they are really ready to make personal changes. We can discuss these stages of Change to determine if you are ready or not ready to make changes at this time. If you are not ready, it would be pointless for either of us to try to cultivate change at this time. back to top
